The makers of Lost announced after season 3 that the show would go on for only 3 more seasons of 16 episodes each so they could run January to May without reruns (which were low rated). I think the producers realized that having an open ended show like X-Files that dragged out too long drove viewers away. So this is supposed to be it, 16 or 17 eps to go & the end (the strike meesed up the count). If they announce another season, I'll be miffed as this was the plan for 3 years!!! I did hear a rumor that they would end the show & finsih with a movie but haven't heard any more along those lines.
