You brought up some things I hadn't thought of, like most of the kids being asleep. I guess they just came up with the playing backout game from hearing about it from adults.

You've also pointed out flaws. My main beef with the show is I just don't see where it can go. The concept is preposterous. really. I was talking with my siser about it and she pointed out why shows like The X-Files were so good--the stories, while sometimes out there, were always within the realm of possibility.
Now unless there are aliens at work here I don't see how the Flash Forward scenario is possible. The blackouts themselves, maybe. But not everyone having a vision of an exact future date. How can anyone control that?

I agree the first couple of episodes were intriging but lately I have gotten bored and very recently decided to stop watching. At least for awhile, until I hear about an upswing in the stories. It's deifnitely not a runaway hit.

My other problem is that the characters just aren't very compelling. I just don't care about them. Demitri Noh is the only somewhat interesting one.
Joseph Fienes is a snorefest IMO. (His brother's much better!) and I don't care about his wife and whether she's going to have an affair. I just haven't latched on to the chracters and I'm not invested in them the way I am with Lost (the show they were trying to compare this to).
