The last episode I watched (taped the others so they were watched out of order) had his character messing things up to the point he knew he had to leave the department. I think I missed the episode that followed or just spaced out on the one where he does leave. His character has had a serious head injuries and he used a cheat sheet when out on the job just so he didn't do things wrong.

Anyhow, he and Cally DuKane were an item--might still be. In the last episode I watched he was going to work as a forensic expert for the DA's office. This should give the actor time to do other shows and still be on CSI when he has time.
