It's not for everyone, it actually took me a number of episodes to get into it, but a few friends who had watched it told me to give it a chance.

The characters aren't as despicable as those in, say, The Sopranos, but they are just very, very fallible. And it takes place in the sixties, so the men call the women sweetheart and treat them horribly in the workplace, stuff like that.

But it's a very compelling story.
