LOL!! I don't think they have a lot of "major" crime in Paris, Texas. The CSI team there would be reduced to using their forensic skills to figure out who wrote graffitti on the high school bathroom walls and stuff like that.
The Texas Rangers have a very good reputation as a law enforcement agency. It's too bad the only TV show focused on them ("Walker: Texas Ranger") was so cheesy. I think that and "Dallas" are the only live-action TV shows that have been set in Texas during the past 30 years or so. (There's also "King of the Hill" but that's a cartoon.)
I can understand why there are more shows set in California and New York than in Texas. What I can't understand is why certain other cities (i.e. Boston and Seattle) also serve as the setting for a lot more TV shows than every city in the Texas combined!
