I was certainly disappointed by this, but it would probably be going too far to say I was "crushed" as Danny/Lindsay, while cute, are certainly no Mulder and Scully!! The couple I'm really shipping for on that show is Mac and Stella.
I've noticed that the producer of the "CSI" shows takes a different attitude toward UST than most TV producers. He does allow the UST to evolve into an actual sexual relationship (i.e. Danny/Linsday or Grissom/Sarah on the original show) but then shoots it down after a half-season or so by having the characters break up or one of them leave for a different job or whatever.
I don't know why all TV producers are so against the idea of having *one* happily married (or just "happily involved in a mutually monogomous relationship") couple in a show that contains an ensemble cast. It honestly isn't very realistic to have half a dozen adults in their 30s and 40s in a show and have NONE of them be married or involved in long-term relationship.
As much as I rooted for the MSR, I can actually kinda/sorta understand why producers want to keep the UST alive for a two-character show. But with CSI they could have had Danny/Lindsay happily together and still teased with the UST of Mac/Stella.
Oh, well! The fact that I no longer get overly involved in the romances of ficitional TV characters is, hopefully, a sign of maturity. Or something.
