This ep was pretty good, but didn't seem to have quite as much "oomph" as the previous ones.
It was kind of sad to find out that Jay hasn't spoken to his mother in several years, due to the fact that he blames her for his father's suicide. I could understand him having those feelings immediately after his father died, when he was an adolescent, but the fact that he's now 25 or so and hasn't developed a more mature and compassionate attitude toward his mother makes me like the character less.
And, speaking of mothers. . .does Tyler even have one? We've seen his father and heard his brother mentioned, but there's been no mention of a mother.
One little thing I did like: Jay's mother looked to be in her mid- to late 40s, which seems about the right age for the mother of a 25-year-old son. One of my pet peeves is when TV shows have the mother of a man or woman in their mid-20s looking likes she's about 70!! And the FBI agent, who looks like he's only in his early 40s, mentioned he has a daughter in college. So this show seems to be taking a more realistic attitude toward the average age difference between generations.
