Our accent is hard to explain. We sort of draw out our O's a little bit, and tend to sort of combine words a bit. Hm, that was a bad description. Most people in Maryland have just slight accent, but some speak with it so thickly it almost sounds fake. Have you ever seen the HBO show The Wire? If so, some of the local actors in it get the accent spot on. It's the only time I've heard a proper Baltimore accent on television.

Here's an entry on Bawlmerese on Wiki (keep in mind this is a bit extreme, most people don't use most of these words). Funny how they list Nancy Pelosi as someone who talks like that. I'm pretty sure she doesn't. She is a Baltimore girl, though. She grew up in Little Italy and her father was the mayor.
