Maybe they are trying to give the girls role models in order to encourage them to go into a scientific field? That's about the only thing I can think of to explain it. I do know that there are now more women graduating with bachelor degrees in math and the sciences than when I graduated back in the "olden days" as my one son used to say. At my daughter's college graduation this spring the numbers were fairly even between men and women in these areas. A lot of graduates (both men and women) were from other countries which might skew the percentages a bit.
