Subject: Hopes for the new TV season

My main hope for the 2005-06 shows is that the producers of all dramas *carefully* select their lead actresses and that the actresses who agree to star in TV shows give deep consideration to what the job will mean to their personal life *before* they sign on.
I was burned this spring by having the lead actresses in the only two dramas that were "must see" shows for me -- "NCIS" and "Numb3rs" -- choosing to leave after only a season or two on the show.
I realize that if a show lasts a really long time -- such as five seasons or more -- some actresses (and actors) are eventually going to leave. But it's frustrating to feel that you're just "getting to know" a character and then have them replaced by somebody else. If actresses don't want to be part of a show for a minimum of four years, they really shouldn't go to the auditions. And if actresses arrive at the audition and express doubts about being in a long-running series, the producers should look elsewhere.
