If I'm not mistaken, the 24 phone number was the one displayed on Debbie's cell phone number when it rang after she was dead.

A few weeks before that a similiar thing happened on Scrubs when Turk told J.D. his phone number that was XXX-TURK (can't remember the actual number) and when people called the number they either got a voice message thanking them for watching the show or they got to talk to the stars. Pretty neat idea.
