OK, less with the lame drama sub-plots like with Kim or the old partner's baby (we did have Driscoll's daughter's suicide which was over quickly). But we still have way over the top, unrealistic plots. Jack is the only guy who can do anything & is saving the world solo most of the time (no backup for the recovery of the football??? In the real world-the whole US army would be there in minutes!!!!).

A fun show, a guilty pleasure but a show with plenty of plot holes. And it has this format they are tied into. If Marwan is cornered, no way is he going to be caught until we're in the last hour of the 24 hour period (or his plan will play out until then).

Everyone else in CTU is a backstabber or a traitor or too emotionally involved to do their jobs. The president happens to be in LA everytime there's a crisis. Jack breaks every law in the book & suffers no consequences unlike Tony or anybody else. Every thread or hunch leads to the next link in the chain, never a false lead. People get kidnapped & recover & go back to work in a few hours of time (most folks are sent home from work if they're pet gerbil dies).

We nitpick all these shows (TXF was mostly good at being realistic, a show like Buffy is totally not trying to be so). 24 seems like a real world show so I take it to task on it's unrealistic nature. Now if the focus was solely on a real, hard-ass anti-terrorism unit with no extra BS, that could be a great show but would probably not be a ratings grabber. With the 100 plots they've used this season (kidnap, nuclear plant over load, kill president, steal nuclear weapons), what's left for future seasons? They'll be repeating themselves soon (they are already).
