That Reggie will not be coaching here after this year? Can’t believe he will come. Too bad, as he seems to be a player.

I'm sure he's aware of RW's tenuous status - the public "vote of confidence" made after the season isn't hard to find. On top of that, it's a common tactic by other schools recruiting the same kid (in this case it appears to be Kent. St. and Cleveland St.) to use questionable coaching situations at other schools to their advantage. The thing none of us know right now, however, is - will Reggie actually not be coaching at Canisius following this coming year?

No one knows the status except the AD. Anyone who cares about the program or school has talked to the New President & AD that we need to make a change. There are some who feel that if he wins the MAAC we sign the guy for another term. Sorry, I'm done if we do that. Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn. The program needs fresh blood, new vision and imagine what can be. It won't happen with the crew that we have. They been given every chance to build relationships with cagers & fans and it has never happened.

I agree that he isn't and hasn't been good but, if he won the MAAC Tournament and went to the NCAA's, there is no way in hell they couldn't retain him. Canisius would look like complete morons.

Time will tell and we shall see. He is 94–112 (.456) while at CC and MAAC record is 65–63 (.508). Overall MAAC Tourney results are essentially one & done regardless of the seeding. He has been at CC for 7 years, is 62 and in the last year of the contract.

He has had his chance and blown it with alums, fans and the administration. A terrible ambassador for Canisius and its basketball program.

And, can anyone tell us about Carter Jackson. Played 3 years at Ignatius Jesuit and now at a suburban HS? Stats? Why leave Ignatius.? What are his strengths and weaknesses?

Garfield Heights actually beat St. Ignatius in the play-offs last year. Jackson will also be reuniting with childhood friend CJ Little (who too is a D1 player) who transferred to Garfield Heights from Ignatius in 2022. Stats from Ignatius are hard to find.

Just watched a bunch of game film of him on Max Preps. Has a nice stroke and hits some threes but where he really excels is in the mid-range, going to the basket, and in transition. Saw a few dunks in the half court off two feet in traffic. Looks to be very strong, a good defender, and pretty athletic.

Why the hell is he signing with the Griffs? Just does not add up, as per all the previous comments.

Nowhere near a done deal that he's done after this year. He goes .500 or better and he's back. Too much talent with Tahj, Frank, TJ, Cam, Joe, etc. and now Carter to start over. Mark my words!

I seriously doubt that he will get this team to the next level. We have talent. We’ve had it in the past. Take a look at the results. The new president is expecting programs like men’s basketball & hockey to step up. Not just in wins but also with fundraising.

Can we suppose President Steve has had a heart-to-heart (maybe more) with Reggie and Bill? Imagine a duck floating on a pond on a summer day. He looks a ease, but under the water he's paddling like hell.BG expects that's what's been going on at Alma Mater this past year, probably more so this summer. IMO we should watch for ducks soaring at Main and Jefferson (Griffins can fly too)as the Fall semester approaches.

There is no question that President Steve has had a conversation with the above mentioned. Go Griffs!

My two cents; if President Stoute has indeed talked to Coach Witherspoon and Bill Mahar about Men’s Basketball and fundraising, then Reggie will be gone because most athletic donors don’t feel welcomed or appreciated by this staff. If it’s about wins and losses, we’ve had talent before and it’s been proven that the staff cannot develop talent. Also, if he runs that ridiculous weave offense, no matter how good the talent, you won’t win a lot of games. Defenses figure that crap out very quickly.

You’re correct on all points.
