Agreed. Canisius just needs to win Atlantic Hockey consistently and get the occasional OOC upset (sweeping North Dakota was a dream, but the mid-tier ECAC, CCHA, NCHC) to move up. Admittedly easier said than done, but it's clearly doable.

Buffalo is an attractive D1 hockey market for fans and recruiting. Canisius has a great arena. Canisius has a healthy relationship with the Sabres and the NHL via that arena.

There's another far less likely scenario where Binghamton and Utica go D1, facilitating a new conference. However, I'm not sure that the desired ECAC and Atlantic Hockey members would join in that new conference.
