I know I go to get backlash from this post which is fine because I realize some people don’t like change. I will try to be minor change even though if it was up to me the Canisius would have a sea creature name because of the Great Lakes like some kind of mythological sea creature holding a cool trident coming out of Lake Erie so be glad I am not in charge and I only suggesting one color to change. Because I am about sell, sell, sell bringing in totally new sales for revenue. I fine with Canisius University Golden Griffins.
But I would definitely get rid of the navy blue color if it was my call which it isn’t because it is a redundant color in Western New York sports teams UB Bulls uses blue, Buffalo Bisons, Bills and Sabres use some kind of shade of blue. We don’t stand out we need to stand out to create interest and buzz in Western New York. The Notre Dame shamrock green with the gold makes us stand out better then the corporate Navy blue at worse add green as a third color. Green and gold would really make us stand out the dawn of a new bolder Canisius University Era if we are going to change to University why not celebrate this with a color change to green and gold in my opinion. We're not Notre Dame or the Sabres & Bills.
These teams understand the importance of building their brand.
Maybe if the Griffs marketed like a Michigan we would have a better presence?
There is nothing wrong with the school colors.
We need to do a better job of having better merchandise which people want and also consistently winning.
The bookstore and the GO GRIFFS website offers very little merchandise that anyone of us has to have.
We went to the NCAA for hockey yet you can't buy a jersey online. Kids that go to basketball games can't buy a basketball jersey.
These items should be made available. Big ticket items on cost but also cultivate interest on how can I get that.

I agree with some of the sentiments, but the financial realities and the staffing make it extremely difficult to pull off the designs and quantities needed to run a great merchandise program.
The Nike/Canisius sale offers some opportunities, but I'm not sure they're doing it. NIL offers some very interesting possibilities.
With the name change, NIL, and some other plans on the way, I would say your patience will be rewarded soon.
