Subject: Revenue Sharing

"Eight female athletes filed an appeal Wednesday of a landmark NCAA antitrust settlement" (AP).
Question, is there a case to be made for revenue sharing with mid-majors under the settlement agreement?
Mid-major programs provide coaching, development, playing time, etc. leading to the development of players only for the most successful of them to transfer out to major universities. Case in point, Walter Clayton Jr.

Not sure I fully understand the question but I don't believe there are any special provisions for mid-majors. I will defer, however, to those who know more.

My understanding of the revenue sharing is that most mid-majors will not participate as they simply cannot afford it and were not part of initial negotiation. The power 4 schools have committed to sharing 20.5 million with athletes this year starting with football season. Although some P4 schools may opt out or not provided the same financial benefit, doing so will certainly hurt their competitiveness. As I understand even schools in the Big East with great hoops traditions can’t do it as they don’t have the football revenue.

Not participate in the HOUSE settlement?

Correct, Maher has already stated that Canisius will not opt-in for 2025-26 and will consider it in 2026-27 season but that seems unlikely to me based on the current budget issues. Schools that opt in will have a 263K annual payment for 10 years, don’t see how CU can afford it.

That's as of now. Schools have until the end of the month to make a final decision. Siena has already reversed course and opted in. Don't be surprised if Canisius does the same.
