Have you watched any interviews with college athletes? I don't think many of them would have ever stepped foot on a college campus if not for sports, let alone care about a business degree.

I remember years ago Dick Vitale calling to end the charade of having major college athletes even attend classes. They would simply represent the university as any other paid employee and not be hindered by having academic requirements stand in the way of their development as a professional athlete. At the time, it sounded extremely radical - but now we aren't that far off.

Ah yes, the wonderful days of STUDENT athletes who made their way by receiving Athletic Scholarships. Some did become professional athletes, but also earned degrees. Is it becoming: "Dad, Mom I can go to Notre Dame. I can be a Football major. Don't cry, I know you were hoping for Medical School".
