Subject: Canisius and the. nIL

Reportedly, Canisius will be distributing about $125,000 each to its men’s and women’s basketball teams this season. Payments supposedly vary from $2000 to $15,000 per player. These funds derive mostly from so called guarant games vs. upper level schools and gifts from alums and other supporters.

While welcome to previously unpaid players, these payments are dwarfed by major powers like Kentucky that will distribute an average of $2 million per player. Bona supposedly will give our former center Frank Mitchell at least $200,000 and Siena has multiple players over $100,000 or so I’ve heard,. Small wonder why kids who play well at our level elect to transfer these das when they can move to higher ground.

It’s a tribute to our coaches that we’ve assembled a number of talented fresh and transfers this season on other squads. The goal is to be competitive in the MAAC and retain our best players for at least two years. Looking forward to watching that happen.

Don't know numbers but I believe we have higher NIL amounts than might have been thought that we would have, there are some contributors making sizable donations I believe, we most likely are not competitive with Siena, Iona and others but maybe better than some Maac schools, will have to see how it all works out in long term.

We need more contributors if we’re looking to rival the likes of Siena.

Give what you can. Every little bit counts. Go Griffs!
