Re: Game 1 Reaction -- Riddle me this, Tue, November 04 2025, 12:33:37
Why would you put your team in that environment as their first game? Playing at Bona for their third game will be traumatic enough. Yes, it’s a money game but perhaps a bit too much too soon. Go Griffs!

It's the crazy catch 22 that mid majors are now faced with. If you don't take guarantee games, you have very little NIL money to get players. If you do, they likely only want to play you at the beginning of the season/opener - like Dayton.

Yeah. Last year who was it, Arizona? On the West Coast? With a group of players running around from different schools? Barely known by the coaches? At least Dayton was closer to home. C.U. is a fine University in a fine City. Damn it, especially Freshmen and Sophomores, stick around. You have fine coaches. You can build a great program! And a solid University education too. That's why you came to college.

Re: Game 1 Reaction -- Griffine, Wed, November 05 2025, 10:26:15
A testament to the power of NIL. Dayton is paying its players $6 million this season—-an average of $500,000 each. Canisius pays $25,000 in total, roughly $2000 per player. Guess who has the better team?

Re: Game 1 Reaction -- More than that, Wed, November 05 2025, 11:49:05
There's more than 25,000. One kid is at least getting 15 if not 20.

Re: Game 1 Reaction -- Don’t be crybabies, Wed, November 05 2025, 12:20:11
Big Deal these crybabies expect us to compete with a school that sells out their whole season In a 13.500 seat arena? It’s not like we got blown out by Mercyhurst. Stop whining! Most of you guys probably never played any sport. It hard to win especially in Buffalo with no budget.!

Re: Game 1 Reaction -- I ❤️ Buffalo, Wed, November 05 2025, 16:36:10
I love Buffalo but selling a kid on coming here has always been difficult. Until we do something special(NCAA bid) coming to a cold weather city with a reputation for snow is not a selling point. The gym that was meant to house inter murals is an embarrassment. So FYIi it’s a tough sell don’t ya think? At least that’s what Nick Macarchuck told me back in the day. Do you think that’s changed. Coach’s have to make the kid or the parents love them cause we are not buying them.

Re: Game 1 Reaction -- What?, Wed, November 05 2025, 16:15:11
I'm under no illusions that Jim Christian has an uphill battle, and that NIL has made this all harder than ever.
These things take time, but Canisius can't be complacent either. I would hope for improvement as the season goes along. Believe it or not, there have been coaches with winning records at Canisius, even in Buffalo...
It's not easy, but it can be done. Coach Christian has won about 70% of his games at the mid-major level. There needs to be patience but expectations too.

Re: Game 1 Reaction -- BfloGriff, Wed, November 05 2025, 12:32:23
This is C.U.'s first season in NIL.Dayton is a larger school and is in a a more significant league. Does anyone know what Dayton's numbers are for their players leaving for other schools every year? BG's concern for this season (one of them) is will the Griffs Freshmen and Sophomores be here next year? That kind of situation makes it pretty much impossible to build a sound roster.
