Re: Who do you think Christian wants to keep & go? -- Cager, Tue, February 24 2026, 6:12:44
I think they should try to keep the juniors, and freshmen. I can't believe that coaches from higher conferences would be interested in kids from the lower level of the MAAC. If we could keep these six or seven guys, and land a couple of players that are legit D1, I believe we could take another step forward next season. We definitely need someone who can play down low and rebound. Go Griffs!!!

There will definitely be programs interested in many if not all. Look at a lesser talented team last year - McMillan to Grambling, Godfrey to UC Riverside, Palesse to Southern Miss and then Alabama St., Easterling and Carter to JC's. Guys will have interest.

Now that we're an NIL program don't we have 15 MBB scholarships? Yes, the coaches, as well as CU faculty and students counselors, should make every effort to keep student athletes who come to CU. But how to deal with the terrible $$ hopping caused by the the USSC and NCAA. With the Administration presently in D.C., Congress won't lift a finger to try to enact legislation to correct the mess. The so called "Big 5" (or is it Big 6 now ) schools have plenty of $$ to crap all over the other D1 schools. How about the former Griff who came to Canisius from Canada on a MBB scholarship, jumped to the BIG10, turned not to be good enough for his new school ($200K and a car?) and is now at an A10 school (we all know which one) for a lot less $$( no car). How much longer can that dance go on? Or the "BIG DANCE" every March.Rehearsals coming to Buffalo soon ("sponsored" by CU and NU).

Yes to the 15 ships. I don't want to speak for JC but based on a conversation I had and other things I've heard, he thinks 13 is tough enough to manage.

Yeah. And it must be getting harder to get even 13 D1 talents outside the aforementioned Big5 (or6) conferences. Anyone watch last weekends' Michigan-Duke game? Only 5 and 4 talents needed apply, 3's not so much! If you're a three, how about a mid-range D1 school to begin with? At a school like Canisius, he/she'll be getting a first class education and a solid opportunity for a degree. Can't disagree with JC (the Coach, not the Other Guy). WBB already had 15. Maybe Jim could transfer the other two to the newest CU Womens', sport, Tumbling and Acrobatics. That must be an NCAA program. Mrs. BG and BG went to the inaugural event at KAC. One of our family from the mid-west is a Freshman at CU and a Griff athlete. Held our breath when she was up. Well attended. Packed on the E. Delavan Ave. side which were the only seats down. The mats for the competition are on the BB Court CU beat Buffalo State U.. IT WAS A BLAST! Go Griffs!
