Subject: Refreshing college sports news

Uconns NCAA Tournament star (and student) freshman Braylon Mullins will not be entering the NBA draft. He's staying there with hopes of winning national championship in his Sophomore year. (Making a few $$ too).

How is this refreshing? UConn is paying him almost 5 million next year to keep him from entering the draft. You really think he is staying to be a student and win a national championship?

In BG's opinion it is a refreshing change these days for a young man in Braylan's position in his life at this time to continue at his University for, at least, another year. His $ 4-5 MM is peanuts given what he would get in the NBA. BG assumes it will be required of him for another school year at Uconn to maintain at least the minimum hours in class. BG believes his parents like that also. He's, only what 19?

Yeah you're wrong about the 4-5 million being peanuts compared to his potential NBA salary. Most view him as a late first round pick which would put his first year salary at 2.7-2.9 million. Even if he were to slide in at 15, that would pay him 4.6. He's staying in great part to the fact that he will make more money at Connecticut than he would in the NBA. This is true of many current players.

Braylyn was terrific in the tournament. BG was thinking he could be in the top 5 picks which, on line, is in the $8MM-11.5MM range. But,yeah he is only 19. The later first round picks are in the $2.1MM -$2.5MM range.
