I’m tying some concepts together. The first is in this web page: http://www.voy.com/31049/768.html in the “Businesses Extending Themselves” section. Since big competitors are extending their reaches, small companies need to reach out to customers to serve them quickly & often.

Here are the next 2 concepts from Inc.
If you have the hard copy of Inc September 2007 issue, read the next article or check it online. It’s about Noah Glass’s business; he accepts orders & payments from consumers as a service for consumers & businesses.

Retailers can do it themselves, but in fast paced businesses, taking orders & payments via credit/debit cards means customers waiting in line end up waiting longer. Glass & his business—Mobo—can speed up the processes.

In this article--“Me Want Cash Up Front,” there’s a complementary concept in “The Packager” section. By forming product/service packages of things many customers often buy, retailers can speed up buying processes. This will make more time & energy available for less common transactions & answering questions.

It isn’t much different than restaurants having numbered food packages. It’s faster for customers to say they want a #1 than list each item. They also have less math to figure when the package has the total price (before sales tax) listed. Sales tax can be added to the list price so the process is faster & less surprising. This is especially true for travelers who don’t know the local sales tax (which tends to vary by county).

Until a service like Mobo is available to them, retailers can work out a way to do something similar.
