I slowly nodd, taking in Dusts words. We are family. We can pull through. I see Storm running up with some water. In the corner of my eye I catch a glimse of silver shine in the golden sunlight, puncturing my eyes with over powering light. I hear a low rumble and it putts off onto the black paved road. My eyes flick up at Dust with fear. Dog Catchers. They've returned. I look down at Taffie, squinting her lil pup eyes. I don't want to startle her, so I slowly lower myself closer to her, cradling her between my two front paws and resting my head on her back lightly, careful not to hurt her. I raise my eye brows to try and look over for any sign of other humans. I don't see any, but I do hear something. My ears perk up and my head slowly lifts. I scan the yard. In a tiny pair tree I see a blur of brown, camaflaged in with the trunk. I hear a whimper and stand as if I'd just been called. I look down at Taffie to make sure she's ok before leaping off the porch and run to the tree. Whatever it was vanished by the time I've reached it. I turn to Dust with caution looming in my eyes. What's going on here? It's so perfectly calm, yet eerily desturbing. I shake my head, knocking around unpleasant memories and thoughts. I retreat to the porch once again, this time more alert. I feel I have some unfinished task. What's missing?
