Hi Elantre 1073,

Well, nice to hear from you again; it's been awhile!

Yeah, you may be right about that, about GC not ever marrying or having kids. He has said that he never wants to be the kind of person who brings children into the world and then is never there to raise them. Though I suspect he'd make a great dad, I salute him for his refusal to treat marriage and kids like some kind of celebrity fashion accessory, know what I mean?

And as for marriage, well, I'm sure the press would love another big celebrity wedding, but as you say GC is a very busy man without much time for a serious relationship (at least the kind that leads to marriage).

Not too long ago, though, I came across an interesting GQ magazine article/interview from 2003 where a friend of George's (Matt Somebody-or-Other? can't recall the name) recounted a recent conversation with him-- at one point George had looked at him and said: "How would I do it, though?" Meaning (that even if he met the "right" lady), how would he successfully balance a strong marriage with a strong activist-movie career? His friend told the interviewer that he didn't have an answer for George, and felt sympathy for his friend.

So maybe he's not as resolved to stay a bachelor as everyone thinks. Maybe he's afraid. Or maybe for George that longing, that desire to seriously be with someone, ebbs and flows, comes and goes...

I totally relate, if that's the case.

Ciao for now,

Lorraine
