Hi George-Lovers!

Wow, where to start?

Maria, like Angel I too know how frustrating it is to lose a post--it's happened to me also and you have my sympathy. And like Angel, I suggest you try again, but I'd add wait for a day (or moment) when whatever mood prompted the original post comes back to you. Then the replacement post will be even better.

That's my theory, anyway...

And, yikes Maria!!-- you sure gave me a start with that "George had his eyes done" mention--I thought for a minute there GC had gone and done something really foolish and I was going to have to fly out to L.A. or Lake Como or wherever he is right now and have a little talk with him. I love George Clooney's eyes, always have. Descriptions like "sexy" and "bedroom" and "twinkling" and "rascally" and etc. were coined for George Timothy Clooney's big expressive baby browns--they're perfection and you can't improve on perfection. Do you not agree, all?

So thank you Merlin (and welcome back, by the way) for your timely input. I did see that Oprah television special where three pairs on celebrities interviewed one another and as I read your post I suddenly remembered GC's joking around with Julia Roberts about his looks (though as I recall he spoke quite seriously and revealingly about the change in his general health).

Angel mentioned Kenny Rogers--I saw him on television not too long ago and she's right: his surgery completely deconstructed his looks. (Was that what he wanted by the way, or is he unhappy with the results?) Another celeb who obviously "went under the knife" is Robert Redford--the last time I saw him in the news I was shocked at how weirdly different he now looks--he actually looks like a person who somewhat resembled Robert Redford when he was young, know what I mean? It's so... disappointing.

Of course, Redford has aged noticeably over time. He's seventy years old this year (Seventy!! Impossible!) and all those years in the Utah sun obviously has had its effects. Cosmetic surgery is certainly his prerogative (and he can definitely afford it) but I can't help wishing he hadn't gone for it. I can remember an interview Bob Reford gave back in the seventies, at the height of his movie idol fame, where he allowed as how he liked a wrinkled face and hoped he'd have the courage to be true to his own, when he got older. He seemed downright disdainful then of the whole "Hollywood Beautiful" ethos, but of course he was young and gorgeous then, so it was easy to thumb his nose at the notion of plastic surgery. In the end--I say this without any scorn or meaning any disrespect--he's as human (and vulnerable) as the rest of us after all.

All this to say I guess that if George should succumb to the temptation to "get some work done" we, his loyal fans, should support him and hope for the best and--

NO! NO! NOOOOOOOOO!!! DON'T DO IT, GEORGE, HONEY! WE'RE BEGGING YOU!!

Okay, I feel better.

Ciao for now, gang! :-D

Lorraine
