The lady of the night...

As Borg left, von Risper walked back to the piano. Opening it, his fingers carressed the keys, but not pressing
any. The calm darkness of the hall has been breached earlier that day with an intrusion of light only his eyes
could see, and his mind could feel.
And it was a feeling he did not like, nor feel like tolerating. Besides as long as it was there, it presented
a constant threat, one not even a being of his power could choose to ignore.
"Time, enough... Young Magan and me need to have a little talk..."
Risper's body sank into what looked like a trance, as he sent out a projection of his essence into the night...

---

The shadows were growing long, as I paid last respects to my family's grave and got up to my horse. Just before
riding of, I held up the sword, seeing how it illuminated the forest clearing, wondering whether my father
ever knew of the mysteries of this weapon.
As if reading my thoughts, the sword spoke into my mind, "Your father has been told of my powers, but I have never spoken
to him like I do to you.A long time has passed since I last talked... with a human being."
I led the horse into the forest towards the path back to Canaday. I still held no answer to why I had the dreams
in my poison delirium, but the events of the day had been a lot to think about already even without that...
"Tell me," I turned my mind to the sword, "do you have a name?"
"You can call me Tileraas", sword replied dryly.
The name seemed to hold a familiar ring to it, but I had no idea why.
I kept on riding into the evening, feeling the cool breeze on my cheeks. There was silence in the air of the twilight in the forest, as suns last rays were
loosing themselves in the shades of trees.
"You said that you are a weapon made by the gods. Are there more like yourself on this world?"
"I am not the only weapon of such kind no, but where others are somewhat similar, each differs from the other.
The powers I hold will give you no special skills in swordfight, in case you have wondered. That skill will
still be your own. I will however point your eyes to any incoming threat, and strengten your own life strands through
my own..."

I gave the sword a puzzled look. "Meaning what exactly?"
"You are still vulnerable to material weapon attacks, but it will take more to kill you. Each blow that would
otherwise be deadly to you shall only cut one of the strands... In time I can also heal them, but that process is
relatively slow."
, the answer came.
"Does that mean you can heal other people too, were they wounded?"I asked.
"No, I am afraid not. Our life strands are bound together now, and the bound can only be broken by your own death or
my destruction..."

Night fell over the land by the time I reached outskirts of town beneath castle Canaday. I chose to return to the
tavern where I have been healed and pay proper respects to the people that helped me. I especially felt in dept
to the little kid Shane, that found me in the streets. Were it not for him my life might have ended as some street alley
mugger prey.
Town was strangely quiet seeing it was still not very late in the evening. Yet there was not a soul to be seen, and mysts
of fog were floating around empty alleys. I led my horse to the tavern of Three Barrel Dreg where I dismounted.
"Need me to take care of thine steed sire?", a page asked appearing out of the mysts as if out of nowhere.
"By all means lad", I let him take the horse to the tavern stables, and just leaned forward to open the tavern
door as someone bumped into me.

"My apologize sire, I had not seen thee in these mysts", a female voice came.
"It's quite alright m'lady. Let me help you with the door though", I replied and reached for the door again, revealing
my face to the light from inside the tavern.
"Sir Dragzfuth!", she exclaimed half in fright.
I turned and looked at her face, not recognizing it. "You know who I am lady?"
"Quick, you must go with me at once", she said instead of an answer. "before someone recognizes you and alerts
the town guard."

We entered the tavern and a flow of voices and singing envelopped us, as opposed to the eerie silence outside.
"Ezella, you're back", the bartender said to my 'companion'. "Any luck finding Shane?"
"Unfortunately not", Ezella sighed back sadly.
"Aww don't worry lass, the little twirp is probably just on one of his 'quests' again". Make sure ye give him a
good ol' spanking when he comes back in the morn'." bartender said playfully...
She just shrugged and dragged me upstairs with her in hurry. "Shane's mother? So she must be the lady that
saved my life that night,"
I realized.
Before I knew, we were in front of her room upstairs, and it only confirmed what I already knew. While she unlocked
the door I spoke. "Forgive me lady, and my ignorance, for I did not recognize you at once. But I owe thee my life
and that is the reason I am here, to express my grattitude properly, and apologize for my abrupt departure in the
morning."
Door unlocked, she looked up to my face, blinking her big eyes at me. "It is okay sir knight, but this city is
not a safe place for you to be here. You shouldn't have come at all."
We entered the room and she locked it immedieately.
"I know I am being deemed fugitive by now lady, but you should not go risking your own life in line of mine.
If someone finds me up here with thee, you shall be sentenced a traitor to the state as well." I said, looking
around the room.
"Sire, I help you because I know you are of true heart and being falsely proclaimed fugitive. But nevermind this now,
I was hoping you could help me with something thyself.".
Ezella showed me to a seat, and sat herself on the bed. Her face was flushing with feelings, and I could see
it was mainly worries.
"I owe thee my life lady, whatever it is, if it's within my power I will help thee."
"See, it is my son, Shane sire. He dissapeared, and I was hoping you'd know something of his whereabouts. Earlier
this day he was running about the woods near the town, and ran into dragon Tri-arcanoth himself. The dragon
told him he was coming for thee sire and Lord Justin, to claim his revenge... Now Shane is missing, and I thought
he might have went out looking for thee to warn you of this."

"So it is true, Tri-arcanoth is in the land, and looking for me...", I thought to myself.
Looking back at those deep mystified worried eyes I spoke again,
"I wish I could help, lady Ezella, but I have not met a single soul in the entire day. If thine son was looking
for me out in the land, it was a poor chance he could have found me too..."

Hope visibly faded on her face, "'tis what I was afraid off... what if the silly boy went after the dragon and
this time he wasn't so lucky..." a tear rolled down her cheek as she covered her face with her hands.

I gripped my sword with the left hand and spoke in my thoughts, "Can you help here? Is it possible for you to
find whereabouts of the boy, or at least tell me if he's still alive?"

"I'm just a sword Magan. Not a magician. But for all that's worth, I can feel some strange and strong forces at
work in the town. I believe he is still alive, but that's the best I can tell right now."

"Fair enough", I spoke out loudly by mistake.
"Sire?", Ezella looked up at me sobbing, her eyes now red from the tears.
"Oh, I just thought out loudly lady." I said. "you spoke of looking for the boy already. Did anyone know anything of his
whereabouts?"
"No, but his piano teacher, Baron Von Risper, he said that he will find him and bring him back for me."

"Von Risper?" The sword mumbled.
"What about him?"
"Nothing, nothing yet. The name just seems somewhat familiar, and I do not like what it reminds me of one bit."
I shrugged at Tileraases remark and continued talking to Ezella.
"And this teacher knows Shane well?"

"Yes Sire, and he seemed really confident, and nice about it. He calmed me down somewhat, but when I lay my eyes
upon thee I hoped you would know something...", her eyes begun watering again.
I stood up and kneeled in front of her.
"I promise you upon my knight's honour, that I will do whatever I can to find your child lady. I owe thee as much
just for the life you saved of mine, but also someone as fair as yourself should not be made to suffer like this."

"You're too kind sire, I'm but a street wench, not a lady..."
"But your heart is much fairer then any of those so called ladies," I replied.
"Now if Shane is in town he will surely be found quickly. I will go find the dragon first therefore and look
there."

"But sire, you will put thine life in danger, Tri-arcanoth is looking for revenge to you.", Ezella countered.

I stood up again speaking in soft voice, "Worry not of that, lady. I will have to face him sooner or later again,
and fighting is what I was raised for. So enough of this talk thing, I shall better be on my way and hurry. If
Shane truly went looking for him, I better not waste any time. And do not worry, you will have your son alive
and well back in no time."

"Thank you Sire," she spoke trying to smile.
