Mistress Mirrabelle

Desperate to reach the kingdom
she pushes on through the night
barely able to stay in the saddle
as the fever clouds her sight.

There on the horizon the castle appears,
another illusion or real this time?
She catches herself once again,
must stay in the saddle, almost there.

Fading in and out nearly losing seat,
she tries to shake the fog from her head.
Closer now, so cold, can't stop shaking,
bundled heavily against the night fog,
she presses on.

She hears the howling, real? or imagined?
they seem closer.
"Forget the night sounds, concentrate on the castle,
you'll make it".

She sees the castle loom large before her,
unaware she was watched closely as she approached
she enters and finally collapses in the courtyard.
She whispers a name as she sees them approaching,
hearing a melody in the distance she loses conscienceness.
They lift the mysterious stranger
and find her very large with child
and delirious with fever.

Sir Justin tells them "take her to the queen's secret chambers!"
