Sir Justin's flight
from the birthing chamber
told me something was amiss.
I'd come to assist a birth,
why this frightened rush?
The door, being still open,
I entered.
Instead of the Lady Mirabelle
I beheld a she-dragon!
I turned to flee..
"Hold!," she said,
"I need thy assistance!"
"I am but, a humble mid-wife
come to assist a human birth.
I know not about thy dragon ways."
"You will do as I say!" she menaced.
"Now, I seek the one who
took the head of Triarcanoth's head.
You know him as Sir Dragzfuth
Where is he?" Her eyes blazed
and her taloned tail whipped
around, knocking a table over.
"I know not. He was seen at
the stable day before last.
I've seen him not since."
Her roar filled the chamber,
I shook with the violence of it.
"Go!" she thundered--"Go,
leave me! If I find you lie,
your head will be forfeit!"
I ran, clutching the stone
of Agarth in my pocket.
Evil times when dragons
invade the land.
It is time.
I found a quiet place,
clutched the stone of Agarth
and searched the ether--
he must hear!
