After leaving the lady
with the good woodcutter and his wife,
I headed in the direction they pointed me.
There is an urgency about this business
that I do not fully comprehend,
but, from what I have heard the
country is not only threatened
by TanCan but from within.
A charlatan and lackey try to rule
while the rightful king
is dispossessed--declared dead.

What is this! A frantic rider
comes from out the castle wall.
"Hold rider! What news?"
"Belamore has killed King Mortcane!
I go to rouse the country side!"

Belamore? Could this be Belamane,
My liege lord?
"This Belamore, where did he do the deed?"
"In his stable, with a baling hook!
I must go!" and he spurred his horse away.

In the stable? Then, of truth it must
be Belamane! But, where will I find him now?
