Well, I know Barry says when he's on the road he dreams of being home, and when at home dreams about the road.
It is the only place they get immediate feedback. And it must be a wonderful thing to get out there and share your music and actually see people singing along and enjoying it. What a high!
But it has to be rough. Although, these days, most singers don't do the "tour to death" anymore. They go out and do some dates, take a week or two off, then go out again. Toby Keith (one of my other favorites) tours only in the summer months (April- early October).
I think once he's ready to go out and do it again, he will be able to sit down and hammer out a great schedule that will leave him time in between to rest and relax. Methinks this was a big bone of contention back in the Journey haydays. No time off between albums and touring. Steve states in an interview somewhere that he is a homebody, and it's hard to leave the comforts of home for the road. But if you have time off in between shows where you can go home and relax, it surely makes it much easier..
Whatever he does, we'll be there waiting!
