Subject: Photographs used in signatures... Important!

Hi everyone!

Just a quick note regarding photographs downloaded from other sites, in particular those sites in which the digital downloading of such photographs is their business and they make money from the selling of the licensing of these pictures.

We cannot use these pictures within the signatures on this board, or anywhere else on the site for a couple of reasons.

First, according to most licensing contracts of these web-based businesses, “..you may not reproduce, distribute, transmit, print Content or transfer Content on any tangible medium, or otherwise exploit the Content in any way. In particular, you may not include the Content in any publication or product, or on any other Web site, including personal Web sites, or on any computer network.” I realize that the intentions of using such within the context of the signatures were pure, and with absolutely no harm intended. However, all have been removed to ensure the integrity of the site.

Furthermore, and with equal significance, I learned also that with regard to the one company that was talked about here a few days ago, the artists receive nothing from the selling of their image. This would be enough to prohibit use of such photographs within the site, whether the company had no issue with the practice at all.
