Male's anger at being kicked at is obvious.... he whirls and slips foreward, aiming a sharp bite to her crest. None of his mares are merely herd members; each is an individual to be treasured and protected. But the steed will not tolerate such subordination. Backing off a few paces he stares at her, daring her to challenge his authority... After a few silent moments, the male lowers his head and flicks his tail. Not a submission, merely a show of respect.... this one would make an excellent lead mare.
