Can you explain the general dislike the longstanding metal band please.

TBH, I don't pay that much attention to any one band, being a 'fan' of any band isn't really my style.

However, as usual on a Tuesday night, I was listening to the Radio 1 Rock Show, and a few weeks ago they played a recording Metallica playing at the Leeds festival. I didn't think they were bad at all. Given the choice I'd rather listen to Iron Maiden, but I certainly didn't think Metallica were doing anything that warranted such derision.

Note for all those that like to pick an argument for the sake of it: I'm not downing anyone else's views, just curious about the apparent blanket dislike for them.
