Subject: Hicksville, East Riding

I find myself in virtual exile in Beverley at present, doing a spot of house-and-cat-sitting and commuting to Hull as and when the need arises. It's all very pretty here, nice historic buildings and all that, but I can hear the sound of banjos duelling, and the local greeting (to any man not decked out in shell suit or Ben Sherman) of "you ain't from round here are you boy?". Makes even Hull seem cosmopolitan by comparison. Anyone got something good to say about the place to change my mind?
