The green dragon emerged from the icy-cold of between like a bolt of emerald lightning.
Spiralling down to the earth, she deposited her rider with a flick of her neck, sending Lily sprawling to the ground. Venieth! Called the girl, indignant at being so roughly treated by her lifemate. What was that for? The dragon didn’t hear her, so intent was she on her lust. Lily picked herself off the ground and went to sit on a log, nervously tucking strands of gold hair behind her ears, her blue eyes darkened with worry. The flight-lust hadn’t yet claimed her, and she wasn’t planning to let it, at least, not until she saw the riders. Her mind was filled with questions about this, Venieth’s first flight. What would happen? Who would fly Venieth? Would she like the riders?
Gliding gracefully over the Herd, Venieth swooped without warning and grabbed a plump wherry in her powerful talons. Landing on the soil, she hunched over it, excited by the smell of fresh meat.
BLOOD IT, VENI! Lily’s voice yelled in her head as she bent her muzzle towards her kill. ONLY BLOOD IT!
Dipping her head to her meat, Venieth pierced the flesh of the carcass with her long teeth. After receiving another sharp reminder from her rider, she sucked the body empty of all its blood and left the dry remains on the floor.
Her green hide was glowing; her eyes were incandescent pools of blazing fire. Shewas in control! Nothing could stop her. No-one would catch her!
She leapt into the sky, an ethereal shriek leaving her throat as she called to all males, blue, brown or bronze, to dare to chase her through the skies!
