No arguments from me on the flag, squire. As far as I'm concerned, it's "Jack out, George in", for me. But your observation undermines your own argument, rather than mine - isn't Wales the only country not represented in the Union flag?

I don't need a subscription to "History Today" to know that England has a rather good record of conquering subservient people (such as the Welsh), then employing them in the further expansion of Empire. If you're in any doubt, ask an Australian or a New Zealander, for example.

And finally "Cry God for Harry, England and St George" wasn't said at the Battle of Agincourt, as Shakespeare wrote. It was at the siege of Harfleur:

"and you good yeomen, whose limbs were made in ENGLAND, show us here the mettle of your pasture. Let us swear that you are worth your breeding - which I doubt not, for there are none of you so mean and base that hath not noble lustre in your eyes.

I bid you stand like greyhounds in the slips, straining upon the start. The game's afoot! Follow you spirit and upon this charge cry "God for Harry, England and St George".

So maybe you should subcribe to History Today. Or else take a course in English Literature.
