Date Posted: 930153936PDT Going out to San Clemente Island this weekend(for three days of diving). Will also dive at a secret shark spot there as well as look for yellowtail and calico to spear! If anyone is out at Pyramid Cove(as we will be there and around the back side!), come by and say hello(Randall excluded!). Best, Jim Morris Forwarded: Okay, at about 7:00 AM last Saturday, we went out to "Short Banks" which is about ten miles straight out to sea from Marina del Rey(was on my friend's 36 foot Uniflite twin diesel sportfisher which was very cool!). Set up the first bucket of New Fishall Chum(which I still say is the best stuff that I have used to date!). About an hour and a half later, we had a beautiful blue(seven to eight feet long)come around the bucket! I jumped in to shoot some video of her as I wanted to try an underwater tag on her too! However, I didn't get the speargun close enough(like I did when I underwater tagged that blue for "EXTRA" last November), and I lost the spear as it sank into the depths after firing! Anyway, I stayed in the water(without even wearing the Shark POD and no cage which was pretty intimidating as I shook the chum bucket by hand trying to keep the solitary blue around all the while wondering what could come darting up out of that blue void!). We got some great video of the blue shark in close proximity while underwater as she was really inquisitive(I even had to gently bump her with the camera housing a couple of times to let her know to not even think about taking an exploratory bite as she was really getting stimulated by the chum!). Got back onboard and headed back to the Marina but can hardly wait to get out there again(sometime soon!). [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
