Beacuse it is him...the good side of it...civic service and defending justice...why would you miss being an artist if your hands where cut off? However, with fate I think it as much that he may be waking up from a slight(and I mean slight unsarcastically)case of denial...I can sure emphasize with the feeling in connection with many past aspects of my life. It is part of growing old...it is like the last staw of the world breaking the back of everything that you believe in and seems right...I have had that feeling many times...Fate will snap out of it, or grow cynical and old, having his youth sacrificed to the jaws of indiffrence, injustice, and evil.
