the way a book says its run and they way its often run is two different things. As far as federal agents go they are lazy, afraid to actually work a case that requires actual work, and have a lot less jurisdiction and powers to use, they are limited soley to federal crimes, we on the other hand can use local, state and federal laws though we try not to deal much with federal laws and get the FBI to do it, but thats usually a waste of time to try to involve them

No a "real"artist sells his work, how do you expect him to live if thats his/her life?

Know a lot more about it than you seem to know, yes they have taken on software cases but its not a regular thing, and its not something they devote much manpower on
