*the new mare enters, following the stallion who had claimed her 'El Diablo', charred black-bay she looks over the territory, seeing if it is suitible to raise the young one, she tests the grass and water, and although not perfect it would do, nostrils lift to the wind, sifting smells, trying to determine if any preditors were nearby, upon her satisfaction that there were none femme moves farther into the tt, finally beginning to see other horses in the herd of El Diablo, but she does not make a move towards any, merely stands on the outskirts, watching her foal*


*young colt trots in boldly, sometimes imitating his dam when she checks to make sure all is safe, finally his mother stops to rest and the colt goes to play, bounding through the scrub brush on the mountain side, chasing butterflies, crickets, and anything else that moves, for one so young he is quite energetic and skillful*
