I'd like to welcome you to the discussion group about all levels of Scouting Training in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. It may take a few sessions to get familiar with the process, but I would like you to read through the various threads to get the sense of the discussion.

You may already be aware that I have restructured the Program section of the Provincial Council so that no one person is speaking on behalf of any section, including training. It is essential, in my opinion, that we open up the two-way communication channel so that, from a provincial perspective, we know what we are all doing, using our successes to build more and sharing our frustrations with things that haven't worked so those pitfalls may be avoided by others. Therefore, decisions regarding training in the province will be made by a committee comprised of representation from each of the five provincial zones. The decisions we make on this committee, which will take into account experiences in our zones, will be brought back to the various zones as a unified approach.

We have to stop re-inventing the wheel within each zone! Together, we should become more efficient in our tasks of training adult members of scouting.

At this point, I'd like to throw out the following questions to you:
How are we going to make the new Part I training syllabus work for us? Work for leaders to give them what they want? (What they think they need and what we think they need might differ!)

I know a few zones have offered parts of PartI of the course.

I look forward to your comments!
