Subject: Hearst Ranch Winery

I hope you don't mind Stewart, but I did a "copy and paste" on one of your messages from another thread ...
'cause - in my opinion - your being a part of the Hearst Ranch Winery now is "very, very cool"! :) ...

"I have just recently become the national marketing and sales coordinator for Hearst Ranch Winery. At this time the wines aren't widely available outside of Cali but for those interested I suggest a visit to their website hearstranchwinery.com. I'm very excited about the possibilities that this winery has going forward and perhaps most importantly I find the wines both well made and enjoyable. The name Hearst should be familiar to anyone who has visited this area and been to San Simeon. Our tasting room is in fact located near the San Simeon beach ,a beautiful place where I often took my children as they grew up. The position offers wonderful challenges for myself and I'm looking forward to seeing the brand grow. That said my time will be primarily consumed by the task but I will try my best to continue my regular visits here and perhaps get my blog up and running soon ..."

[> Hearst Castle -- BC, 23:45:08 01/21/11 Fri

...there's a pier located on the other side of Highway 1 - across from the Hearst Castle ...
not far from "Sebastians General Store" - which I believe might "house" the "tasting room" of the winery?!

anyways ...
early in the day, there's a "mist" which surrounds and secludes the castle ...
- sat on that pier for the better part of one morning
- waiting for the mist to rise in order to take a photo! :)
- but, it was worth it!
- 'cause in the process of waiting I also saw a sea otter relaxing in the water
- floating on his back with his "arms" folded across chest
- beside a guy in a kayak! :)

at the end of this video it shows a view of the castle in the mist ...

not too far from the castle there is a beach "dedicated" solely to elephant seals ...
(on land they're kinda like a "slow-moving" vehicle)...

but, once they hit the water ...
they switch into an entirely different "gear" ...
- an elephant seal in his "element" - swimming

- BC :)

[> San Simeon Cove, CA -- BC, 14:50:35 01/23/11 Sun

... so, I've been sitting here at my computer in TN - for the better part of the afternoon - working on homework ...
and, decided to check our local forecast as to the possibility of MORE SNOW! - current temps?! 41 degrees and "sinking" fast! :)

... out of curiosity - checked the current temps in San Simeon, CA? - still 'round about 70 degrees! :)
now, there's only about "one degree" of difference - "latitudinally speaking" - in Lebanon, TN and San Simeon, CA ...
(about 69 "statute" miles difference - north to south)...
so, what's up with that?! :)

- searched YouTube, and found a video of San Simeon Cove ...

The pictures of San Simeon Cove are amazing, what a beautiful place. I guess I didn't know very much about the coast of California, I have never been, but I never realized how beautiful it is. There is something special about the picture looking out over the water with the mountains in the backgroud, its really magical. And the castle surrounded by the mist, breathtaking. Visiting those places someday would be like a dream.

It's a beautiful place to vacation Jenny!
And, "some people" are lucky enough to live in that area year 'round! :)
