I have Emma on DVD. I didn't like Gwyneth Paltrow in that much. However, I did like the 2007 version of Persuasion (my favorite Jane Austen book). I found Rupert Penry-Jones to be a much more convincing Captain Wentworth than Ciarán Hinds in the 1995 version.

By the way, I must say that I'm a huge supporter of reading the book before watching the film. As pretty and picturesque as the 2005 Pride and Prejudice was, the '95 version, though 6 hours long, was true to the book.

Oh, and as for Mansfield Park... it's a tie. I liked both the '99 and '07 versions

by A.S. Byatt? I don't have it but one of my co-workers is currently reading it. I'll be borrowing it when she's through.

Have you seen Bright Star?

Sorry, have been out-of-pocket for awhile...

You are speaking my language...British Literature...lovely! May have to dig up those videos to show my senior English crew this year...at least the girls will be happy...haha! I also agree....always read the book first. No movie can do justice to the human imagination!
