Hey Laura,

I've missed you around here as well, though I've seen your posts on Facebook. Our conversations always seem much more fun and insightful on this board...

Thinking of you as well, and your trimmer. That's some powerful machinery there!

Behold the trimmed lawn... Ah! Such a beautiful sight!

Love ya!
Joanna

Thanks. Now that we get a sunny hour every two or three days, I've decided to try and get outdoors more and tackle the yard. We only have 7/8ths of an acre but its a bear!
It rains so much that everything grows at a decidedly evil pace. You can almost stand and watch it grow. I swear! The trees I pruned and hacked down last year now have three foot replacements, but can we grow a garden. No way! Vegetable seeds sit in the ground and rot .
Our property is on land that was once timber land. it was harvested about 80 years ago, but you only need to dig down about six inches and you meet with root systems and old trunks. The ground is therefore uneven and not an easy ride on the lawn mower so the weed eater is the only reasonable solution for many of the areas. An hour and a half yesterday, two hours today and the front yard is prepped for the mower. My great nephew, Jaime, got ready to do that today but he only made it around the perimeter once before the mower had mechanical problems. So now the front yard has swatches where I "weed ate" with a circle cut in the middle. I'd love to be able to see it by air.Good heavens, I hope the Google satellite doesn't fly over. It would be there for all the world to see! If it doesn't get fixed, it will be time for me to use the weed-eater again. Makes "Little House in the Prairie" sound like a walk in the park. At least they got to use a variety of muscles. If I keep this up I'll have biceps that would frighten "Dog, the Bounty Hunter!"

Love to all,
LauraG
