Subject: HOUSE Versus Doctor MacNeill

I don't know how many of you have watched House, but I was watching Hugh Laurie in Sense and Sensibility tonight and pondering on an interesting question......I wonder who would win in a match of wills and wits?

House or Neil?

Wouldn't that be a debate to behold! House would so tell him off in all of his arrogance as he normally does, but then again, Neil would give it right back.

Wonder if they would get along in real life? Hmmmmmm. Hugh and Stewart........ interesting.

I have only watched the show this past year and on Hulu, got tired of the whole Lupus conclusion show after show. And his rudeness......well.....let's just leave it at that. Then again, that is what draws people to watch, right? or is it?

What do you think?

Who would win---MacNeill or HOUSE?

Well, I might be a "bit" partial ...
but, in any "match-up" ...
my money will always be on "the Doc" ! :)

Oh, oh now that would be a great script! Country Doc vrs House,...too much fun! My money is on the Doc, good over evil and such. I haven't watched House at all this year, will have some catching up to do.

I used to be a great fan of HOUSE; M.D. and Hugh Laurie. I love the acerbic wit.
I got tired of all the time changes and reruns.
I'd love to see SFM play a "Doc-like" character on HOUSE. Two very different characters. For beside manner it's "the Doc" all the way, but if I had lupus, I'd have to pick Dr. Gregory House.

I actually went as far as to track down one of the writers for the show and pitched the idea to her yesterday. She is co-producing some of the episodes this year, so who knows...maybe she will give SFM a call.

The whole character of House is one in that NO ONE seems to be able to be a pressure point for him except HIMSELF. I mean, his character has HIS own morals, makes fun of everyone and is generally a self centerred, egotistical jerk of a boss.

BUT..............

There is also a great depth to his character. Take his relationship with Wilson. I mean, you really see the true character when he finally stops putting up a front to protect himself. Though if you told him he was doing that he would most likely mock you to shameful silence.

Thirteen stood up to him, but now she is leaving. Most of the other characters cave in at the least bit of pressure.

What House needs is a good antoagonist/protagonist to boost this show to a whole new level. Have House finally be put in his place by heaven forbid---someone who may just know more than he does---wouldn't that be a change.

I say all this about his, but in all reality----I love Hugh Laurie as an actor. I am with Laura. I love his wit. I love his quick comments. In Sense and Sensibility he is always dropping one liners under his breath. In the Borrowers he does the same. He is almost hysterical in that one as he torture Jim Goodman. 101 Dalmations he was priceless.

But you see, the character is so strong and so fixed, there needs to bes something, someone just as strong as he is to give him tit for tat.

I think Stewart is definitely strong enough for that role. We've certainly seen him in that role enough lately. I mean, when someone is looking down their list for the necessary actors in their show, when they come to the slot for an angry, intense, fiery witted individual---whose name gets slotted there. Stewart's. Talk about typecasting.

Still........this is definitely an idea to toss around at the writers.

See, see, see, !!! So many directions, levels and lines, twists and turns this could go!!! Stewart has the backbone, depth, talent to stand up to House like no other actor I know. Some could put on a show but to be believable, gotta be our Doc. Good on you girl, great idea, could be one heck of a finale year!! Hope they take this into consideration.

So do I!

I completely agree. To stand up to House, the character has to be strong, and yet a fan favorite. We love to HATE House. We need an antagonist that we love to love. Kind of a "yeah--take that House." and yet...someone that they could both learn through.

If only he was acting still.........

We'll have to see. Have to put a few more bugs in the HOUSE director's ears. :)

Well, to be honest ...
I haven't actually seen an entire episode of "House" either! :)
But, I did "check out" Hugh on YouTube!
And, "Doc" still wins ...
"hands-down" ...
No contest! :)

Its not all about appearances. Hugh Laurie is an extremely intelligent and talented man. He's a good actor, musician, composer, comedian and writer. Quite witty and charming as well.

I'd be quite willing to be in a room with either, but there is definitely something extraordinary about "our" guy.

I'm in agreement with you Lou! "Our Guy/Doc" holds himself accountable. The House series never made that a viable option. I'll repeat, could be an amazing final.

The Doc, hands downs! As much as I love House, the Doc already knows who he is and is secure with this. House has too many psychological and drug issues to deal with. Would absolutely love to see the Doc give him a major intellectual beat down!
