Subject: Thistle ...
In reply to: BC 's message, "Flower of Scotland ..." on 09:11:30 08/10/10 Tue

"In the language of flowers, the thistle (like the burr) is an ancient Celtic symbol of nobility of character as well as of birth, for the wounding or provocation of a thistle yields punishment. For this reason the thistle is the symbol of the Order of the Thistle, a high chivalric order of Scotland."

"Another story is that a bare-foot Viking attacker stepped on one at night and cried out, so alerting the defenders of a Scottish castle.[3] Whatever the justification, the national flower of Scotland is the thistle."

I love the song and video Will Ye Go Lassie Go by Lark and Spur but another favorite is Caledonia by Dougie Maclean.

That's so beautiful! I've never heard that song before!
Thank you for sharing it Deb!
But, one question ...
Why do we (females) sometimes get "teary-eyed" - even when we're happy?!
Geez, It's been a very emotional day for me - in a good way though! :)
with love from, BC :)

I have numerous "adopted" kids ...
seems regardless where I go, kids of all ages "adopt" me as well.
The younger of my own two sons- Jason - always says, "Mom, you're such a MOM!" :)

One of my "adopted" sons, Rex ...
who used to work weekends with me at my "home away from home" ...
LauraG has "met" him via Facebook ...
I bought my motorcyle from him ...
(and, No - I still haven't been able to sell it yet! :)

Anyways, Rex was - and, still is one of my encouragers!
He knows a lot about me ...
and, he knows how to make me smile! :)
oftentimes, when I was in the back of the store ...
with a TON of dirty dishes on the sink ...
all of them just sitting there - "staring" at me ...
waiting to be washed and put away ...
Rex would walk up behind me, and start singing this song! :) ...
