Subject: BotCon Europe report

Well, this was enormous fun for those of us who went!

First up, the exclusive, a silver and blue repaint of Windcharger keychain, to be called Rook, (a journalist). Sadly, not available to attendees due to late delivery from manufacturers, but a sample was on display (Nice!) and by way of apology the organisers gave all preregistratnts compensatory Tap-Outs, which was _very_ nice.

The guests Neil Kaplan and Wankus (And yes, he DOES know what his name means and he told how he got it, which led on to some amusing, if somewhat unrepeatable, anecdotes on his panel) were everything you'd for from guests; genuinely funny, having a ball and great storytellers. When not in the panel they wandered through the convention being generally charming and extrovert, and believe me that adds immeasurably to the atmosphere.

Simon Furman was there (Surprise, surprise) and with Glen Hallit, talked about his plans for Armada, how he found it best just to let his artist on The War Within come back with the designs for the Cybertronian alt-modes as he did it sooo much better, and did mention that Dreamwave are looking at ways to get the comics back out around the world.

A massively enjoyable charity auction, you had to be there, but they were bidding on toilet paper at one point... (Unused I hasten to add) and plenty of dealers, some of whom I'd never seen before (A big Hi to the delightful Japanese couple who came along and made LOTS of new friends with very good deals, and their appallingly cute son!)

Next year Botcon Europe will be a two day, hotel-based event, and will have little things like, more exclusives, it's own comic and the like.

So, if you missed it, you missed a really fun day, if you were there, you'll know how much fun it was!

Cheers!
