It's nice to know that you remember I am respectful and have some integrity - I was starting to wonder if you remembered me at all to be honest, ORB. I singled out one person because I saw that one person to be having a go at another poster for no good reason - and having read yours and Bats posts, even you refrained from saying his points were "mindless drivel". The single thing I was aiming for was to warn WarCore that he/she (you're right, we don't know) could not talk to people like that here. Fine to say "I think you're flat wrong" but to put it along the lines of "I think that's drivel - and not only that, I think it is mindless drivel" is a bit much and that is what I called him/her on. Nothing more or less. Icon is free to respond to the points raised: what I picked up WarCore on was his/her mode of expression, not the content of that expression in and of itself. That might be problematic since WarCore considers him/herself to be banned even when they're not, but all I was interested in was reiterating the boundaries within which debates on the Cavalcade work.

And I never once made a personal attack against WarCore. I corrected one single thing (detracted and retracted have very different meanings, remember) and was quite honest when I said another thing made no sense to me - something he/she would have had a chance to correct and make clear but for the considering themselves banned even when they're not. I know picking up on grammar/spelling is generally a taboo on discussion forums where English may not always be a poster's first language, but in his/her post WarCore's choice of words seriously altered part of his sentence, and made another part very hard to understand - and I know something about the English language. That was never a personal attack and I would be happy to reassure WarCore as to that: but again we hit the stumbling block of he/she considering him/herself banned even when he/she is not.

You're welcome here anytime ORB, regardless of the topic: I've known you (in an online sense) since the good old days of SPU and as I said above, I am glad you remember I am not an ogre. I stand by my points about conduct towards one another in here - note that we can disagree about this without resorting to the language I picked up WarCore about - but I respect that you might feel I was a little harsh. If that is the case then be assured I am not trying to be: I am proud of this place, of the fact that it survived the transfer from SPU when so many boards didn't, and of the fact that people choose to come here to discuss things, and I have always put that down to people being able to talk here without fear of being flamed, insulted or otherwise put down. I know that if I was talking to someone and they said I was talking "mindless drivel" I would be put off, so I based my reaction as admin on that fact.

And this is still a Cavalcade of Whimsy - but you can be whimsical without being disrespectful towards others. Again all I say is, look at how you and I obviously disagree on this but still maintain a reasonable tone towards one another.
