Christians have lived in Iraq for a long time. Just because it's a primarily Islamic country doesn't mean that it's totally devoid of Christians, but merely that Christians are the minority. Just as we could say that in the United States, Christianity is the primary religion, but there are a lot of Muslim Americans, albeit a minority.

Iraq's vice president is Christian and one of our fellow Transfans, Tranzmetal, is born of parents who immigrated to Australia from Iraq and his family is Christian.

Yes, Islam is Iraq's state religion, but do not presume that it means that all Iraqis are Moslem.
