Subject: Something of a relaunch

Ever had an epiphany?

Well, what I have had wouldn't qualify quite as an epiphany, but it was a useful bit of revelation anyway. Fairly simple to anyone but me, but then again I never claimed to be the sharpest tool in the box! :-)

Simply put, I have been letting work run away with me. There are 24 hours in any given day, and I have come to the conclusion that there is more to life than work, especially as working harder and harder only seems to increase one's expectations of how much work one should be able to handle. In addition squeezing in more and more work means you have to squeeze out more and more fun stuff. I realised lately that surfing the web was becoming a chore for me, not something I took any enjoyment out of. The same could be said of sitting at a PC or mac for any length of time, I just didn't seem to enjoy it any more.

I have resolved to change this. As an unashamed workaholic (which I have been called in the past, by friends and colleagues alike) I am honest enough to know I will still take work home, work late in the office etc, but I am going to try to "reclaim" some of the time I would otherwise have given over to work and start doing the things I enjoy again. This place was one of the things squeezed out to allow me to squeeze work in - and I don't like that. This board and others like it - hosted previously on the old SitePowerUp - were my introduction to the internet as a place to interact and not just dumbly browse pages. Through these I have met, spoken to, and made friends with some extraordinary people, and I would be foolish in the extreme to let something like this place slide.

SO - to cut a long story short, FawnDoo and his Cavalcade of Whimsy is relaunching. I plan to develop my website - www.fawndoo.com - over the next few months to reflect some of my interests and I have plans for it that might involve users of the Cavalcade, if you are at all interested.

Be it ever so humble, there's no place like home. And as of now, we're open for business.

As part of that, I have restarted the policy of switching the banner and post/refresh buttons. Many many thanks to Batbot for his Homer Simpson buttons, which served admirably for many many months longer than was planned! :-) And many thanks again to Imperial NOVA, who provided the logos currently adorning the forum.

Many thanks for reading through a post largely filled with nonsense, I do hope you will all find the time to post here - I enjoy it, and in the past we have had laughs, discussions, interesting arguments and amusing diversions and I for one wouldn't mind seeing that again.

Cheers

FD
